How to Configure Windows 95/98
|
- WARNING: You must have the correct Windows 95/98 CD-ROM or
Cabinet files. Missing or incorrect versions can cause a system to
become inoperable.
| Configuring the network settings |
- Double-click the My Computer icon.

- Double-click the Control Panel icon.

- Double-click the Network icon.

- Click the Add button if you are missing any of the following
components from the "following network componets" are installed list:
Client for Microsoft Networks, Dial-Up Adapter, or
TCP/IP. Note: If you already
have all 3 components installed then click the cancel button and
procede to the "creating an TVCOnline connection" section.

- Select Adapter in the Click the type of network component
you want to install list. Click the Add button. Note: If you already have Dial-Up Adapter
installed then skip steps 5 and 6.

- Select Microsoft in the Manufacturer list. Select
Dial-Up Adapter in the Network Adapters list. Click the
OK button.

- Click the Add button.
- Select Protocol in the Click the type of network component
you want to install list. Click the Add button. Note: If you already have TCP/IP installed then
skip steps 8 and 9.

- Select Microsoft in the Manufacturers list. Select
TCP/IP in the Network Protocols list. Click the OK
button.

- Click the Add button.
- Select Client in the Click the type of network component
you want to install list. Click the Add button. Note: If you already have Client for Microsoft
Networks installed then skip steps 11 and 12.

- Select Microsoft in the Manufacturer list. Select
Client for Microsoft Networks in the Network clients list.
Click the OK button.

- Click the down arrow on the Primary Network Log on drop-down
list and choose Client for Microsoft Networks. Click the
OK button.
 Note: You may be prompted
for the Windows CD-ROM or Cabinet files at this point.

- Click the Yes button.

| The network settings have now been successfully
configured. After the computer restarts proceed to the "creating a
connection" section. |
- Double-click the My Computer icon.

- Double-click the Dial-Up Networking icon.

- Double-click the Make new connection icon.

- In the Type a name for the computer you are dialing field,
type
TVCOnline. Click the down
arrow on the Select a device drop-down list and choose the
correct modem installed on your computer. Click the Next button.

In the Area code field, type your area code. In the
telephone number field, type your
local access number.
Note: Remember to check with your
local telephone company to make sure that the number you choose is a
local toll-free call. Click the down arrow on the Country
code drop-down list and choose the correct country that you're in.
Click the Next button.

Click the Finish button.

Click the TVCOnline icon with your right mouse button, then
choose Properties.

Click on the Server Types tab. Click the down arrow on the
Type of Dial-Up Server drop-down list and choose PPP:
Internet, Windows NT Server, Windows 95/98. Uncheck all the boxes
except for Enable software compression and TCP/IP. Click
the TCP/IP Settings button.

Select Server assigned IP address.
Select specify name server addresses.
In the Primary DNS field, type 66.109.38.250In the
Secondary DNS
field, type 66.109.38.251Note:
Primary WINS and Secondary WINS should be all zeros and you should have
a check next to Use IP header compression and Use default
gateway on remote network

Click the OK button.
| You have now successfully configured your Dial-Up
Networking connection to connect to TVCOnline. |
| Connecting to the Internet |
- Double-click the My Computer icon.

- Double-click the Dial-Up Networking icon.

- Double-click the TVCOnline icon.

- In the User name field, type the username that you signed up
with including the "@tvconline.net".
- In the Password field, type your password.
- Click the Connect button.

| Creating a Shortcut to TVCOnline on the Desktop |
- Double-click the My Computer icon.

- Double-click the Dial-Up Networking icon.

- Click the TVCOnline icon with your right mouse button, then
choose Create Shortcut.

- Click the Yes button.

| You have now successfully created a shortcut to TVCOnline
on your desktop. Double-click the shortcut to TVCOnline to connect. |
